Christ in you the hope of glory

Lent Lunches

This Lent Christian Aid is sharing the story of Michael, who fled his home when soldiers raided his village in South Sudan. Thanks to generous donations CA helped him back on his feet and gave him hope for the future.
Michael’s story: When soldiers started murdering and looting in his village, Michael fled to the swamps with his family. This action was made doubly traumatic for Michael because his eyesight is very poor, and he needed guiding through the swamp to safety.

When he eventually returned home, he found all he owned had been stolen or destroyed. Michael along with many others were supported by Christian Aid local partner organisation – for example one simple offer of help - he was given new fishing hooks so he could work to feed his family. Michael is now sharing this skill with his family so that if the worst of times return, they will have skills to support themselves.
Michael has more rebuilding to do, but he has been given the initial helping hand he needed to thrive, not just survive, for the years to come.

Every pound raised at our Lent Lunches will transform lives and bring closer a world where everybody has a safe place to call home. Please support our churches Lent Lunches and raise vital money for our global neighbours like Michael:
